For more than 40 years, the League has conducted the Elected Officials Training Conference aimed at providing a nuts and bolts review of the myriad of important issues municipal officials need to be familiar with. Topics include Sunshine Law, budgets, public official liability, conflicts of interest, public works contracts and more.
Use Tax Workshop
The Missouri Municipal League will be conducting a workshop on the Local Option Use Tax, June 5 in Jefferson City at the Capitol Plaza hotel. The workshop will be divided into two sections. In the first hour, officials with the Missouri Department of Revenue will provide an overview of what the use tax is, how and what it is applied to and how it will affect local residents and businesses. In the second portion of the workshop, Callis and Associates will explain how to use and implement the materials and strategies in the Use Tax Campaign Toolkit developed for Municipal League members. The registration fee will be $30.

Missouri Municipal League Scholarship
The Missouri Municipal League Board of Directors has established a scholarship program to assist those employed in municipal government with furthering their education. The program provides five, $500 college scholarships to be issued on a statewide basis. Graduate or undergraduate students may apply as long as the institution is accredited. The applicant must be a full-time employee of a Missouri municipality, and must be endorsed in writing by either the city manager/administrator or mayor. Only one applicant will be considered per city. The MML Scholarship Committee will select scholarship winners in early June. Click here for the application packet.
