  2. Register online here and use a credit card. Once your registration has been processed, you will receive an emailed confirmation with the webinar link.

  3. To join the webinar, click the registration link and register for the webinar.

 

Cost: $10 for members and $20 for non-members. All of the webinars are one hour and will run 10:00am-11:00am.

If you choose the "bill me" option, you will not automatically receive the link. It will have to manually be sent.

"INTO THE WEEDS" - THE LITTLE THINGS THAT CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, presented by Susan McGreevy, Stinson Leonard Street LLP

Description: This webinar will talk about items beyond price, scope and schedule that can trip up a public construction project. Included will be:

- Testing and inspecting engineers - what can you really rely on, and how to use them effectively

- When are you required by law to have surety bonds, and when might you want them even if not required? Does it make a difference what bond form you use?

- Partial occupancy - how does taking over part of a project affect all remaining obligations, and what can you do to keep your protections?

- The municipality's obligations on Prevailing wages - how far do you have to go to comply with the current law?

- Insurance - what proof do you need? Is a Certificate of Insurance enough?

- Incorporating Missouri workforce safely training requirements

- Incorporating Missouri worker eligibility requirements

Description: This webinar will provide an overview of personnel law for public entities. The webinar will highlight some of the differences between personnel law as applied to public entities versus private entities. Any municipal official who deals with supervising employees or who makes hiring, discipline or employment terminations should consider attending.

THE MISSOURI USE TAX EXPLAINED, presented by Stuart Haynes, Policy and Membership Associate, Missouri Municipal League

Description: Amazon’s recent announcement that it will begin collecting Missouri taxes on purchases has generated lots of interest in the local option use tax.  This webinar will start with the basics by reviewing how traditional sales taxes work and then build into the application of the use tax.  The presentation will also focus on how revenue generated by out-of-state vehicle sales fits with the application of the use tax.    Sources for estimating revenue from the use tax and resources for use tax campaigns will also be reviewed.  Any municipal official interested in the working of the use tax should consider attending.
