The City of Independence will host the next regional meeting of the Missouri Municipal League’s West Gate Division on Thursday, January 19, 2017. The meeting will be held at Ophelia's, 201 N Main Street, in Independence. This event will provide an excellent opportunity for municipal officials to meet with their neighboring officials, find common cause and share an excellent meal.

Registration and social hour will begin at 6:00 p.m, and the dinner will start at 7:00 p.m.  The registration fee for the meeting will be $37 per person (tax and gratuity included). This includes a plated dinner (grilled 8oz strip with a port wine butter sauce and seared diver scallops with a sweet onion chutney).

The evening's speaker will be Jill McCarthy, Senior Executive, Kansas City Area Development Council. Jill leads the business recruitment activities for KCADC - working with companies and national site location consultants considering the Kansas City area for expansion or relocation, and is responsible for the implementation of strategic initiatives to direct more deal flow to the KC region. Jill has 25 years economic development experience and has joined the KCADC 18-plus years ago.

Jill holds board positions at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Kansas City Advisory Board, the Johnson County, Kansas Airport Commission, CREW KC and U.S. Senator Moran's Academy Selection Board. Jill is involved in several other professional organizations: CoreNew Global, 7x24 Exchange, AFCOM, ACCP, IEDC, IMN, as well as the state economic development peer groups, KEDA and MEDC.

The Kansas City Area Development Council serves the 18-county, two-state Kansas City area by marketing the region’s business and lifestyle assets to companies around the world. Working closely with its 50+ state, county and community partners and its more than 250 corporate partners across the region, KCADC has attracted companies pledging to create more than 60,000 new jobs over its 40-year history. KCADC also leads the efforts behind the KC Animal Health Corridor, KC SmartPort and TeamKC. www.thinkKC.com
