The Missouri Municipal League, in conjunction with the City of Cape Girardeau, is hosting a Southeast Regional Meeting and Dinner.  The Meeting/Dinner will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  The meeting will be at the Osage Center in Room 1 AB located at 1625 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau.

The workshop is open to all municipal officials and is designed for elected officials and city staff.  This is a great opportunity to learn about the Missouri Municipal League and network with other municipalities in the Southeast Region.

Registration and social hour will begin at 6:00 p.m, and the dinner will start at 7:00 p.m.  The registration fee for the meeting (including the dinner) will be $19 per person (tax and gratuity included). Dinner will include an entrée of bacon and cheddar wrapped pork loin, please let us know if you have any special dietary needs.

Dr. Wally Siewert, Director of the Center for Ethics in Public Life, University of Missouri-St. Louis, will present "Public Values and Political Ethics". Dr. Siewert is a dynamic and interactive speaker who will discuss, “What makes an ideal public servant, and why it is such a hard job?” Combining public value theory and with real world political application this presentation will provide participants the opportunity to map out the many kinds of potentially conflicting values involved in the public sphere. What are the underlying public values that we all agree on? And how do they come into conflict to create such disagreement? The goal is that participants come away with a consistent framework within which to place public values, and new tools with which to address conflicts between them.
