Description: Planning for a natural disaster is a constant process. Although no disaster plan is ever perfect, localities that regularly review and update policies and procedures, staffing and stakeholders’ roles, and funding options are better able to manage the response and recovery effort when a disaster does strike.
Participants will be introduced to IBTS OnHAND, an online resource of natural disaster-related case studies, tools, and tips developed to meet the needs of stakeholders at the local level. Additionally, webinar participants will learn best practices to maximize federal disaster funding.

Description: This presentation will discuss the basics of municipal contracts and purchasing, including statutory requirements, constitutional limits, conflicts of interest, competitive bidding requirements, and procurement procedures and best practices. It will also provide negotiation tips and practical recommendations to city officials regarding drafting, awarding, and executing municipal contracts. By reviewing these fundamentals, city officials will be well equipped to lawfully execute municipal contracts needed for their respective city.
